This year's community Holocaust remembrance service (Yom HaShoah) sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Ulster County will take place on Thursday evening, April 12th at 7:00 pm at the Community Center of the Jewish Congregation of New Paltz, 30 North Chestnut Street.  This solemn candlelight service includes second-generation survivors and representatives from area congregations and communities. There will be light refreshments following the ceremony. The public is encouraged to attend.

New Paltz Rabbi William (Bill) Strongin and second-generation survivor Charlotte Tusch Scherer will host the service, which pays respect to and remembers the six million victims of the Holocaust and their families.  Among the guest presenters will be poet/writer Julia Indichova, Ruth Hirsch and Ruth Beyl representing the second generation, and Shir Yaakov Feit, singer-songwriter and spiritual leader of Congregation Kol Hai.
